Any unwanted action, whether physical, verbal, nonverbal, or implied, that would reasonably cause women to feel physically and psychologically uncomfortable or humiliated, and disrupts social order, is considered a harassment crime. Harassment of women is perpetrated by family members as well as, in many cases, by strangers. The places where crimes of women’s harassment are committed are also different, because wherever women are present, crimes against them are committed.
The importance of the research lies in the fact that the causes of crimes of harassment against women in Nangarhar province have been clarified, the areas of these crimes have been identified and the necessary solutions have been proposed to prevent them. The main objective of the research study is to raise public awareness of the crime of harassment. As well as to provide solutions that reduce the level of crime and punish the perpetrators in order to reform and improve society.
The research methodology is both qualitative and quantitative. The first part of the research is library research in which the most reputable and trustworthy published materials such as books, scholarly articles, and credible internet sites are used. The second portion of the research is field research, in which materials are gathered based on questionnaires and then the SPSS software is used to analyze the mentioned materials. Moreover, practical examples on the subject have been obtained from the Nangarhar Court of Appeal.
In the course of this study, I reached the conclusion that, in practice, Nangarhar province has a high percentage and number of women’s harassment cases. However, in order to protect the dignity of the family and, on the other hand, to keep social restrictions under consideration, the official complaints of the victims are not registered in the relevant judicial and other legal institutions. As a result, the perpetrators have not been punished.
